Overview of the Role

The Customer Support division is tasked with the installation, qualification, repair, and maintenance of ASML systems at client sites, ensuring a seamless transfer of expertise to our customers. Local Customer Support teams are dedicated to qualification, repair, and maintenance for clients within their designated regions.

Mission of the Role

This position is integral to the establishment of a new Customer Support team for Samsung as they develop their second high-tech fabrication facility in Taylor, TX. Team members may be assigned to Korea for up to one year to gain insights into the technical, operational, and cultural nuances of the customer and the local ASML organization. Following this assignment, the team will provide support at Samsung's facility in Taylor, TX, facilitating the launch and ramp-up of production on a new EUV fleet.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the EUV Customer Support Team, the Customer Support Engineer (CSE) will:

  • Deliver first-line support for customer machinery during both scheduled and unscheduled downtimes.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation for scheduled maintenance events.
  • Drive issue resolution and provide structured follow-up to enhance ASML procedures and local site operations.
  • Monitor machine health indicators to proactively prevent unscheduled downtimes.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Installing equipment at customer locations, including new feature integrations, unloading components, inspecting for damage, assembling, aligning, and testing.
  • Assessing applicability, accuracy, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Diagnosing issues and executing necessary repairs.
  • Promptly escalating issues to relevant support resources when required.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, customers, and field support to isolate and resolve problems.
  • Maintaining and optimizing equipment daily to enhance functionality and prevent issues.
  • Training customers on equipment usage and routine maintenance.
  • Providing professional assistance and answering customer inquiries.
  • Acting as a resource for users regarding routine malfunctions.
  • Advising users on corrective actions for malfunctions and recommending procedural changes.
  • Performing administrative tasks, including work orders, service reports, and technical documentation.
  • Offering support and guidance to less experienced ASML personnel as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a BS degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience, along with:

  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, semiconductor processes, and relevant software.
  • Proven experience with computer applications, including data analysis, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
  • Ability to train and mentor engineers and customer personnel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Additional Information

This position may involve an assignment in Korea for up to one year to understand the technical, operational, and cultural aspects of the Samsung customer and local ASML organization. Afterward, the team will be based in Texas to support Samsung at their new facility.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unaided and to work in a clean room environment with electromechanical equipment. Candidates should be prepared for a moderate temperature and noise level environment.
