Job Summary

As a key member of the Marriott International Inc. team, the Assistant Director of Housekeeping Operations plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction in our properties. This position is responsible for managing housekeeping functions and staff on a daily basis, overseeing the execution of all housekeeping operations, and driving results that meet or exceed budgeted goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing Housekeeping Operations and Budgets
    • Review staffing levels to ensure optimal guest service, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
    • Develop and implement effective inspection programs to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in guest rooms and public spaces.
    • Monitor and control housekeeping budgets to ensure alignment with company financial goals.
    • Supervise the distribution of supplies, equipment, and uniforms to ensure staff have the necessary resources to perform their duties.
    • Communicate areas for improvement to staff and follow up to ensure understanding and implementation.
    • Ensure compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conducting Human Resources Activities
    • Provide on-the-job training to new room attendants and conduct follow-up training as needed.
    • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees to foster a positive work environment.
    • Schedule employees to meet business demands and track employee time and attendance.
    • Ensure employees understand expectations and parameters.
    • Administer property policies fairly and consistently, and complete disciplinary procedures and documentation according to policy.
    • Observe service behaviors of employees and provide feedback to individuals.
    • Ensure employee recognition is taking place on all shifts.
    • Solicit employee feedback, utilize an 'open door' policy, and review employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.
    • Participate in employee progressive discipline procedures.
  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
    • Set a positive example for guest relations and empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction.
    • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Strive to improve service performance and maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related field.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; no work experience required.
