Respite Registered Nurse Opportunity

Eliot Community Human Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respite Registered Nurse to join our team in Lowell. As a key member of our Mental Health team, you will provide high-quality care to adults with persistent and severe mental illness in our 9-bed Respite residential program.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses and be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting. You will provide oversight, guidance, and assistance to clients in understanding their medical conditions and perform direct medical care as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide education and consultation to consumers and staff on medical health, medication, and medical topics
  • Develop and conduct groups and trainings for consumers and staff on health and wellness topics, including nutrition, exercise, and smoking cessation
  • Assist consumers with accessing community resources to support their health and wellness efforts
  • Meet with consumers and staff to discuss medical diagnoses and conditions, causes, symptoms, complications, and treatment options
  • Perform direct medical care for consumers as appropriate and ordered by physician, including monitoring of vitals and wound care
  • Review medical documentation for each consumer and provide medical care consultation and coordination as needed
  • Provide assistance coordinating overall medical care for consumers and ensuring medical follow-up is done as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or better
  • NH Driver's License
  • MA Driver's License
  • 3 years of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses
