Opportunity Overview

The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a talented transplant heart and lung procurement surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. As an open rank, open track position, this opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the growth and development of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in heart and lung procurement as a member of our thriving multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to relevant research, ex vivo perfusion, and/or normothermic regional perfusion
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring with students, residents, and fellows
Qualifications

Candidates must possess an MD or equivalent degree, be board-certified or board-eligible, and have completed relevant cardiothoracic surgery training. Additionally, they should have experience in heart and lung procurement and meet the qualifications to be approved as a procurement surgeon by our organ procurement organization.
