Medical Technologist Role at Weirton Medical Center

**Job Summary**

Weirton Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

**Responsibilities**

• Obtain and process specimens, performing a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests, using techniques and equipment.

• Interpret test results, ensuring accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

• Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into medical records within required timeframes.

• Conduct maintenance, performance checks, and calibrate instruments in one or more laboratory areas.

• Recognize biohazards and process specimens accordingly.

• Evaluate media, reagents, and standards according to established criteria.

• Conduct quality control procedures on analytical tests, instruments, reagents, media, and other products.

• Evaluate quality control results, implement corrective action when necessary, and document action.

• Assess the validity of laboratory results through correlation of data with patient chart information.

**Requirements**

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.

• Registration with the American Society of Pathologists or an equivalent national registry.

• One year of clinical internship or experience in laboratory procedures.
