About the Role

Billings Clinic is seeking an experienced RN Patient Care Navigator to join our Oncology team. As a key member of our cancer care team, you will play a vital role in coordinating patient care services, ensuring excellence in patient care and patient flow, and promoting effective resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care services to ensure excellence in patient care and patient flow
  • Follow patients through the care continuum, eliminating operational barriers to services
  • Work closely with other healthcare disciplines to ensure timely appointments, results reporting, financial need referrals, communication, patient care, and follow-up
  • Coordinate care, including scheduling patients with proper providers and multidisciplinary teams, notifying cancer research teams, and contacting patients/caregivers within one business day of scheduling
  • Provide education on the rationale of the multidisciplinary team/appointments and need for further imaging or testing
  • Attend patient first consults in medical and radiation oncology, and attend multidisciplinary appointments as needed
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and adherence to clinical and research guidelines to ensure optimal clinical outcomes
  • Ensure follow-up on identified patient clinical and non-clinical care, facilitating communication and compliance to care plans
  • Participate in educational activities related to patient/community, clinical operation, and process issues
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational materials for patients and their families
  • Facilitate intra-departmental relationships to provide necessary resources to and for the patient
  • Interface with other members/disciplines within the healthcare teams for appropriate referrals/services
  • Aware of and assist with financial needs of the patients
  • Identify and access appropriate social services, including resources to assist caregivers to support treatment
  • Contribute to an environment of quality and process improvement
  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and entry into patient database as indicated by department guidelines
  • Direct and coordinate identified quality assessment and improvement activities to assure quality patient services are monthly provided through audits and reviews
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum 4-year/Bachelor's degree in nursing within 4 years of hire
  • Two (2) years clinical practice experience, 5 years of oncology experience preferred
  • One (1) year demonstrated computer experience dealing with word processing and data management
  • Current Montana/Wyoming RN license
  • At hire: Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oncology nurse navigator will have a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing
  • Obtain OCN cert within 2 years of hire
