About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our Research and Development team at Moses Lake Industries. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of advanced battery technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute research plans to advance the performance and lifetime of lithium-ion batteries
  • Lead a team of scientists to design, develop, and test new battery technologies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business needs and develop strategies to meet those needs
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest literature and industry trends to inform research and development efforts
  • Perform hands-on laboratory experiments to test and validate new battery technologies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and partners to provide technical support and guidance
  • Communicate research findings and results to internal stakeholders through presentations and reports
  • Mentor and train junior scientists to develop their skills and expertise
Requirements
  • PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering with a focus on battery technology and 3+ years post-graduate experience
  • Excellent foundation in organic electrochemistry, polymer structure-property relationships, and energy storage systems
  • Experience with polymer materials development for battery applications and lithium-ion battery development
  • Deep understanding of electrochemical processes in lithium-ion batteries and ability to apply scientific method to achieve business objectives
  • Proficiency with moderately complex analysis software and working knowledge of computers and MS Office software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in leading and fostering teams, overseeing a team of 4+ PhD and MS level scientists
  • 3+ years of relevant battery experience in an industrial setting
