Senior Data Scientist, Wildfire Risk Management

Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to lead our efforts in wildfire risk management. As a key member of our Power Delivery team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions to mitigate the impact of wildfires on our operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct complex research studies and technical analyses to support company objectives in wildfire risk management and electric service reliability analysis
* Work effectively with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to analyze complex problems and deliver solutions consistent with established schedules
* Lead data science projects, processes, or systems over the life cycle of the project, including project identification, scope development, implementation, and long-term operations and maintenance
* Provide technical expertise across business teams in the area of data science to support functions such as wildfire mitigation, reliability, and risk within the T&D Operations organization

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Math, or Engineering from an accredited college/university
* A minimum of 7 or more years' experience in a power/utility/energy industry or related profession, including experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature
* Over 3+ years of experience working with Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning
* Ability to construct and optimize SQL queries (1+ years' experience)
* Exceptional technical writing skills
* Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way through visualizations

Preferred Qualifications

* Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
* MS or PhD in quantitative fields
* Experience working in the utilities, risk management, or wildfire mitigation sector
* Experience with wildfire science or wildfire-related analytics use cases strongly preferred

* Competitive salary range: $115,900-$136,300
* Annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary
