About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Oncology Unit - Stem Cell Research team. As a key member of our team, you will assist and support Professional Registered Nurses in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities. Your primary function will be to provide high-quality care to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their stay with us.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Direct Patient Care Activities: Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes; take and record vital signs; measure and record intake and output; apply cardiac monitors and oximetry; obtain EKGs; perform normal newborn hearing screenings; and collect specimens.
  • Indirect Patient Care: Maintain a safe and clean environment; perform duties delegated by RNs to facilitate patient care and efficient unit operations; collect and inventory patient belongings; complete charges using appropriate documentation; order supplies online or requisition them as needed; obtain necessary equipment and supplies for patient care; and check designated equipment for proper functioning.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • CNA certification or completion of basic clinical rotations;
  • CPR recognition from the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers);
  • Minimum 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes;
  • Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring;
  • A minimum of a high school diploma, with one year of college or nursing education preferred;
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, family, nursing, and medical staff.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying shifts, including nights and weekends. You will need to be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull forces up to 50 pounds, and maintain a safe and clean environment at all times.
