Intensive Care Unit Patient Care Specialist

As a Patient Care Technician in our Intensive Care Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting the inpatient nursing staff, ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients and their family members.
Key Responsibilities:- Complete various forms, requisitions, and communications as assigned by the nursing staff.
- Accurately transcribe physicians' orders and maintain accurate records.
- Act as a central communication resource at the nursing station, providing excellent customer service and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Input and retrieve data accurately, ensuring the integrity of patient information.
- Initiate, maintain, replace, or complete various clerical forms, reports, and supplies as needed.
- Assist patients and nurses with daily living activities, vital signs, and patient care plans.
- Assist with lifting and positioning patients, using proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
- Function as a Constant Attendant, responding to Resuscitation Team pages and Crisis Team pages as directed by the Nurse Director/designee.
- Transport patients to other units or departments as necessary, ensuring safe and efficient movement.
- Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing staff.
- Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
- Assist patients with daily activities as directed by the nurse.
- Assist nurses with restraining and removing restraints.
- Maintain direct observation of the patient at all times.
- Keep the patient within arm's length, even during bathing and toileting.

- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- RN license required due to specialty unit.
- Medical terminology and keyboarding skills preferred.
- Current CNA certification or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B, or equivalent required.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
- Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required.
- Experience in clerical or receptionist position preferred.
- Previous experience in an acute care environment preferred.
