Job Overview:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RN is tasked with assessing responses to actual or potential health issues and delivering essential emergent, supportive, and restorative care through our established nursing process. The ICU RN showcases the necessary knowledge and skills to provide care tailored to the age of the patients in their charge.
Key Responsibilities:
The ICU RN will be responsible for:
- Conducting systematic assessments of the patient's physical, psycho-social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and discharge needs, considering their age and developmental stage.
- Employing effective verbal and written communication skills to ensure thoroughness and accuracy in documentation.
- Exhibiting precise technical skills and operational knowledge of patient care equipment and procedures.
- Reviewing the care plan and adjusting goals as needed.
- Creating and executing a personalized care plan for each patient.
- Identifying unsafe and life-threatening situations and responding appropriately.
The ideal candidate for the ICU RN position should possess:
- A degree from an accredited nursing program.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Connecticut.
- Valid AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within three months of hire.
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCIT) or completion within three months of hire.
