Position Overview:

As a Field Engineer Specialist at TASSCO, you will play a crucial role in tackling challenges related to material handling and processing across diverse sectors, including mining, pulp and paper, and steel manufacturing. This role combines fieldwork with analytical problem-solving, design, research, and collaboration with sales and estimating teams. A significant portion of your responsibilities, approximately 40-50%, will focus on ensuring the effective installation and operation of wear-resistant steel components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Data Collection: Conduct site visits to assess equipment and components, gaining insights into current conditions and challenges.
  • Digital Twin Development: Utilize laser scanning technology to create digital replicas of equipment for precise modeling.
  • Design and Drafting: Produce sketches, AutoCAD drawings, and 3D models, ensuring high levels of accuracy.
  • Compliance Verification: Ensure all work adheres to industry safety and quality standards.
  • Mechanical Power Analysis: Execute power calculations to enhance system efficiency.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop technical proposals and select mechanical components for various designs.
  • Quality Enhancement: Identify opportunities for product quality improvements through engineering analysis.
  • Sales Collaboration: Work alongside the sales team, providing technical insights to facilitate new business opportunities.
  • On-Site Technical Assistance: Provide field support and troubleshoot issues during installations.
  • Reporting: Compile comprehensive progress reports for stakeholders within the organization.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or a related discipline).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a field service or engineering capacity, with a focus on material handling.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proven track record in resolving technical challenges.
  • Physical capability to work at heights, climb, and handle heavy tools.
  • Proficiency in precision measurement tools and technical drawing software.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical knowledge, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and perform under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for documentation purposes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
  • Expertise in laser scanning technology and metallurgical principles.
