Position Overview:

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in an educational environment is tasked with conducting student assessments and delivering therapy services as outlined in each student's individualized care plan and the directives from their healthcare provider.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate students' communication abilities (such as articulation, fluency, voice, and both expressive and receptive language) to identify communication challenges, assess eligibility for programs, and formulate treatment recommendations.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to share information, address concerns, and ensure service delivery aligns with established protocols.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings for eligible students (including testing, IEPs, parent discussions, and pre-referral staffing) to communicate evaluation findings, create treatment strategies, and provide training for parents, students, and staff.
  • Design treatment strategies, interventions, and educational resources aimed at reducing the impact of communication disorders while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Guide eligible students in utilizing appropriate communication technologies (such as hearing aids, FM systems, and augmentative communication devices).
  • Maintain comprehensive records (including progress reports, activity logs, billing details, treatment plans, and required documentation).
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including meetings, workshops, and seminars.
  • Deliver speech and language therapy to students to mitigate the effects of speech and language disorders on their academic success.
  • Seek relevant in-service training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) License in the relevant state is mandatory.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be required based on state or contract stipulations.
  • Adhere to all applicable professional standards of practice.
  • Complete Amergis' Competency program when necessary.
  • Current CPR certification is required if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray may be required.
  • Possess a current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully complete new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understand and comply with patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills to effectively exchange information with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is essential.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
