We are seeking an experienced chemical engineer to join our Materials Manufacturing area within the Fuel and Poison Materials (FPM) unit. This team is responsible for the research and testing of nuclear fuel materials, including test design, specimen fabrication, manufacturing development, and characterization.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, facility, and compliance organizations to enable and conduct test programs.
- Develop and fabricate unique materials systems, including small-scale production demonstration and factory installation, testing, and deployment.
- Implement optimized process parameters, including small-scale production demonstration and factory testing and deployment.
- Design, model, analyze, manufacture, and deploy laboratory equipment, including nuclear, chemical, mechanical, structural, and electrical components and systems.
- Document progress, analyze results, and conduct presentations as needed.
- Occasional travel to domestic vendors (3 to 6 times per year).
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a science-related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a science-related field and 4 years of relevant experience, or a PhD degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a science-related field and 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred skills include a BS, MS, or PhD from an accredited college in Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or Materials Science and Engineering, and experience in materials science, control systems, and chemical engineering.
