Role Description:
Emory Medical Laboratory is dedicated to enhancing health outcomes through high-quality, innovative laboratory services. We are currently looking for a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist with expertise in MICROBIOLOGY, BLOOD BANKING, and/or CORE LAB SPECIALTIES.
Available Shifts: Varied shifts including Day, Evening, Night, and Weekends.
Locations: Opportunities available across various Emory Healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols on patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Perform tests including but not limited to biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, microbiological, and serological analyses in a clinical or research setting.
- Act as a primary operator for the introduction of new technologies and methodologies.
- In complex scenarios, assess all relevant information to determine the appropriateness of test results, and refer abnormal findings to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in the laboratory's safety committee; develop and maintain safety and infection control protocols, ensuring compliance with Safety Data Sheet requirements.
- Provide education on medical technology principles and techniques while mentoring junior technologists; create educational materials and assessment tools.
- Perform blood collection procedures as necessary.
- Undertake additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Core Lab specialties: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related scientific field.
- Alternative bachelor's degrees may be considered if the candidate has graduated from an accredited institution and completed the necessary science and math coursework.
- Certification from recognized accrediting bodies such as MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience is essential.
