Role Description:

Emory Medical Laboratory is dedicated to enhancing health outcomes through high-quality, innovative laboratory services. We are currently looking for a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist with expertise in MICROBIOLOGY, BLOOD BANKING, and/or CORE LAB SPECIALTIES.

Available Shifts: Varied shifts including Day, Evening, Night, and Weekends.

Locations: Opportunities available across various Emory Healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols on patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
  • Perform tests including but not limited to biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, microbiological, and serological analyses in a clinical or research setting.
  • Act as a primary operator for the introduction of new technologies and methodologies.
  • In complex scenarios, assess all relevant information to determine the appropriateness of test results, and refer abnormal findings to the appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in the laboratory's safety committee; develop and maintain safety and infection control protocols, ensuring compliance with Safety Data Sheet requirements.
  • Provide education on medical technology principles and techniques while mentoring junior technologists; create educational materials and assessment tools.
  • Perform blood collection procedures as necessary.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Core Lab specialties: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related scientific field.
  • Alternative bachelor's degrees may be considered if the candidate has graduated from an accredited institution and completed the necessary science and math coursework.
  • Certification from recognized accrediting bodies such as MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is essential.
