Job Summary

A Clinical Laboratory Specialist at Grady Health System analyzes biological specimens using routine and complex instruments and manual methods; applies quality control, maintenance, and calibration procedures per standard operating procedures to provide accurate, reliable and timely information for preventing, diagnosing or treating disease; and participates in teaching students and new employees.


Key Responsibilities
  • Apply quality control, maintenance, and calibration procedures per standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in teaching students and new employees.
  • Analyze biological specimens using routine and complex instruments and manual methods.

Qualifications
  • MLT certification from the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Technician or National Certification Agency is required.
  • New graduates must obtain registration with the ASCP Board within 18 months of employment.
  • Understands the basic clinical laboratory methodologies and recognizes factors that affect procedures and results.
