POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the transportation strategy within a multi-temperature foodservice distribution center. This position is vital for ensuring that customer service standards, cost efficiency, driver performance, and other key performance indicators are met. This hands-on role demands exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to excel in a dynamic work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job description aims to provide a representative overview of the primary duties and responsibilities associated with this role. Employees may be asked to perform additional job-related tasks as necessary.

  1. Plan and organize transportation operations, including pickups, deliveries, and shipments.
  2. Engage with carriers, suppliers, and clients to guarantee timely delivery of products.
  3. Oversee transportation expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  4. Collaborate with warehouse personnel to facilitate the accurate loading and unloading of goods.
  5. Monitor and trace shipments to confirm on-time delivery and inform relevant stakeholders as required.
  6. Address any transportation-related challenges or delays promptly.
  7. Maintain precise records of transportation activities, including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
  8. Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations and standards.
  9. Continuously seek opportunities for process enhancements and cost savings.
  10. Provide training and supervision to transportation staff as needed.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Logistics Operations Coordinator or in a similar capacity.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, including DOT and HOS guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Freight and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), preferably Aljex.
