Auxiliary Plant Operator

At the University of Wyoming, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Auxiliary Operator. This role is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of auxiliary equipment and systems at the Central Energy Plant and West Campus Energy Plant.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and monitor plant equipment and systems to ensure effective and safe operation.
- Record data and take corrective actions to address equipment or system issues.
- Conduct water and pollution control tests to maintain plant, equipment, and state standards.
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance and repairs, including weekly testing of diesel generators.
- Assist in restoring plant functions to normal following shutdowns or power failures.
- Monitor and record coal shipments for quality control.
- Remotely monitor equipment at the West Campus Energy Plant and travel to the plant as needed.
- Vocational school, associate's degree, or 2 years of on-the-job experience in an industrial field.
- Respirator qualification within one month of hire.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
- Two years of appropriate vocational schooling.
- Two years of boiler operator experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- An ability to be a productive team member.
