Job Overview

The Production Planning Specialist plays a crucial role within the Scheduling team, reporting directly to the Director of Supply Chain. This position is responsible for developing and executing the daily production schedule, collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless operations throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the daily and weekly production schedules for all lines, ensuring alignment with open production orders and demand forecasts.
  • Facilitate the Weekly Capacity and Labor Planning process, communicating potential challenges to stakeholders and management.
  • Actively engage in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, responsible for creating and aligning a three-month forecast by brand and product group based on inputs from sales and marketing.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to accurately plan for new product launches, monitoring early sales data and adjusting forecasts as necessary, especially for high-value and variable SKUs.
  • Maintain an accuracy scorecard that compares planned production against actual output, providing insights into any discrepancies.
  • Communicate any constraints or delays to relevant teams, including sales, operations, and production.
  • Oversee post-production reporting and manage yield adjustments for various processes.
  • Co-manage the scheduling for microwave production and transfers to cooling.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and sound decision-making in a dynamic work environment.
  • Utilize basic mathematical skills for yield calculations and other necessary computations.
  • Work collaboratively across functions with supply and production teams based on realistic forecasting trends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, within the scope of the role.
Required Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Excel is essential; experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and production planning modules is advantageous.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and engage with all levels of staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adherence to safety regulations and guidelines.
