This position exists to provide civil engineering leadership, technical guidance, and apply engineering skills to ensure the delivery of programmed design projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining appropriate QA/QC for the design process, ensuring technical competency of staff, and establishing a high level of technical competence across the staff.

The ideal candidate will provide technical direction and guidance to assist District 8 Project Managers and Engineers in the Design portion of the projects. They will review detailed construction plans to ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state, and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards.

This role requires a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to lead and train staff in managing design workload, scope, and schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Engineer Senior:

Applicants must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.

Engineer 2 Graduate:

To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following:

A Bachelor\u2019s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC.

A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Two years post-graduation civil engineering work.

OR

A Master\u2019s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC AND

A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

One (1) year of post-graduate civil engineering work.

OR

Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam.

Required for both the Engineer Senior and Engineer 2 Graduate levels:

Experience using Windows based operating systems, spreadsheet, and word-processing software applications.

Project management skills sufficient to lead and train staff in managing design workload, scope, and schedule.
