Position Overview

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is seeking a dedicated Compliance Administrator. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related discipline, along with substantial experience in compliance within the higher education or nonprofit/research sectors.

Key Responsibilities
As a Compliance Administrator, you will:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including research compliance (USDA, iRB, IACUC, OLAW), laboratory safety compliance, and other standards pertinent to higher education.
  • Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address compliance challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, while fostering interpersonal relationships.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have a robust background in risk management and compliance, coupled with a profound understanding of applicable laws and regulations. The ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree or certification in compliance or risk management is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
The selected individual will be expected to travel to various UMCES locations regularly as part of their responsibilities, utilizing either a state or personal vehicle.
