Critical Care Technician PRN-Clinical Decision Unit

OverviewThe Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is a 20-bed, single-room unit located on the first floor of the Kelemen building. As a locked unit, access is restricted to authorized personnel. The CDU is designed to provide observation and care for patients who require close monitoring before being admitted to a hospital floor. Our team works collaboratively to ensure patients receive the best possible care and are discharged to their desired destination.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and mobility.
- Perform technical duties as directed by a Registered Nurse, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and Foley catheter care.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond accordingly.
- Reinforce patient and family education on individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
- Assist with admission, transfers, and discharges of patients.
We're seeking a motivated and compassionate individual with 0-2 years of experience in a similar role. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program. AHA Basic Life Support certification is also required.
