Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Ellis Medicine. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, as well as providing patient care and education.

Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze patient information, including medical history, physical information, medications, and procedure requests.
  • Review and verify documentation, including study protocols and medical orders.
  • Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Perform testing preparation procedures, including preparing and calibrating equipment, applying electrodes and sensors, and performing physiologic calibrations.
  • Provide testing and sleep disorders education, administer oxygen as needed, and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events.
  • Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events, and generate accurate reports.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance, and inventory evaluation.
  • Respond to study participant inquiries, and maintain current BCLS certification.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a polysomnography education program, of no less than two years duration, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility.
  • Hold a State license/certificate as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Candidates who hold a Limited Permit and have met all requirements for eligibility as a Polysomnographic Technologist except that related to the credential exam may also be considered.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The Polysomnographic Technologist must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $23.40-$33.93 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
