Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medication Assistant to join our team at HRA. As a Medication Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with medications to residents according to their Medication Observation Record (MOR)
  • Document clearly and accurately on the MOR after a medication is taken or given, refused, held, discontinued, changed, disposed of, returned, in accordance with policy
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized med cart/cabinet and restock as needed
  • Provide residents with any treatments required as part of their individual service plan
  • Promote and protect the rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment
  • Answer and respond immediately to resident calls
  • Respect the resident's right to refuse medication and/or treatment
  • Explain to the resident what medication is being given and why, prior to assisting with or administering the medication
  • Observe the resident for any adverse reaction to the medication and report to the DRC and/or supervisor immediately
  • Report any and all medication errors honestly and immediately
  • Seek assistance and advice from supervisor immediately if there are any doubts or questions when assisting with or administering medications or treatments
  • Respond to on-the-job injuries in accordance with policy
  • Notify supervisor of any concerns or questions presented by the resident's family member(s)
  • Adhere to universal precautions and all other infection control guidelines
  • Dispose of infectious and/or potentially infectious waste according to OSHA regulations
  • Demonstrate respectful behavior in all interactions with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to the community
  • Perform specific work duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Meet or exceed health standards for appearance, sanitation, and hygiene
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead by example, exhibiting the CORE Values through servant leadership
  • Encourage teamwork and promote company philosophy
  • Attend required community meetings and participate in Life Enrichment activities when able
  • Complete all required courses in adherence with HRA University
  • Be prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis
  • Become familiar and understand how to report a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent
