QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in education with a valid teaching certificate in North Carolina.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills that will foster their educational and social growth. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to all regulations, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal laws related to educational matters. Design a curriculum that caters to the diverse needs, interests, and capabilities of students while aligning with school, district, and state standards. Establish a learning environment that promotes education and is suitable for the developmental stages and interests of students. Direct the educational process towards achieving curriculum objectives and, in alignment with these goals, set clear expectations for all lessons, units, and projects, communicating these expectations to students. Utilize teaching methods and resources that are most effective for achieving specified goals. Regularly evaluate student performance and provide progress updates as necessary. Engage in discussions with colleagues, students, and/or parents consistently. Support the administration in enforcing all policies and rules governing student behavior and, for the classroom, develop reasonable standards of conduct and maintain discipline in a fair manner. Plan and oversee meaningful tasks for teaching assistants and assess their job performance. Commit to enhancing and maintaining professional expertise. Participate in the development and promotion of the broader school vision. Attend faculty meetings, serve on committees, and fulfill non-instructional responsibilities as required or assigned. Perform related duties and responsibilities as directed by the Principal. Terms of Employment: Ten-month employment/FLSA Exempt Starting Salary and/or Grade: Salary determined by state salary scale Evaluation: Job performance will be assessed in accordance with local and state evaluation policies for educators. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing; ability to interact well with school personnel, students, and parents. Demonstrate proficiency in computer usage and all aspects of Microsoft Office software. Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, and complete specific tasks as requested. Exhibit strong subject matter expertise. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by job responsibilities. Ability to maintain order and discipline within the classroom. Ability to consistently monitor the safety and well-being of students. Adhere to confidentiality standards in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Physical capability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. Physical Requirements: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. As necessary, work irregular hours and weekends, and be available for work-related communication. Must be able to exert a minimal amount of force to move objects; classification consistent with light work.
