Position Overview
  • Under the guidance of certified educators, assist in facilitating student learning in the classroom to achieve educational objectives, while alleviating certified staff from non-instructional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support and guide students in enhancing their skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, and technology.
  • Engage with students both individually and in small groups to reinforce foundational learning and implement designated educational programs.
  • Assist educators in administering and grading classroom assignments, tests, and evaluations.
  • Prepare classroom materials and strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate records to document student progress and achievements.
  • Contribute to classroom management efforts to minimize disruptions and promote a focused learning environment.
  • Supervise students in non-instructional settings, including lunch programs, bus duty, and playground activities.
  • Accompany students on educational excursions to provide necessary supervision.
  • Develop, replicate, and distribute educational resources as required.
  • Assist teachers with parent communication to encourage active parental involvement in student education.
  • Support students with special needs in all facets of classroom instruction to enhance inclusion and meet IEP goals.
  • Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student evaluation team as needed.
  • Assist students with physical or mental challenges in daily activities to foster their participation in educational experiences.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations when providing assistance to all students, including those with special needs.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support guidance and pupil services staff or school administration as required.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
  • Utilize standard office equipment, including computers and copiers.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel between various educational facilities may be necessary for certain roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions provided in written or verbal form.
  • Competence in basic arithmetic operations to assist students effectively.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
  • Ability to build supportive relationships with students with special needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Work in standard office and educational environments.
  • Ability to engage in outdoor activities during student events.
Qualifications:
  • A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for successful performance is required. Typical qualifications include:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of college-level coursework or passing of required examinations as mandated.
  • Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
