Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our team at Swickard Auto Group. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex automotive problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic and Repair Expertise
    • Analyze customer concerns and symptoms to identify the root cause of vehicle malfunctions.
    • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of various vehicle systems.
    • Prepare repair plans outlining necessary repairs and estimated costs.
    • Repair and replace faulty components following manufacturer specifications.
    • Test repairs to ensure functionality and safety.
    • Document all repairs and parts used on service orders.
  • Customer Service and Communication
    • Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Explain technical issues in an understandable way.
    • Provide accurate estimates and timelines for repairs.
    • Keep customers updated on service progress and address any concerns promptly.
  • Technical Skills and Knowledge
    • Possess a strong understanding of automotive systems, including their operation, diagnosis, and repair.
    • Stay up to date on new technologies and repair procedures through training and certifications.
    • Perform a wide range of repairs, from basic maintenance to complex engine or transmission overhauls.
    • Proficient in using various diagnostic tools and automotive repair equipment.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • May perform test drives to evaluate vehicle performance and diagnose issues.
    • May research technical information and consult with colleagues or service manuals to solve complex problems.
    • May recommend preventative maintenance services to customers.
    Requirements
    • Demonstrating a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or related automotive repair experience.
    • Completion of an automotive technician training program or equivalent experience.
    • Possession of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications is a strong plus.
    • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Manual dexterity and the ability to perform physical tasks.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
