Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer to join our team at Curry College. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, employees, and visitors, as well as protecting our college property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Services Delivery: Provide a full range of security measures to maintain the safety and integrity of the college, including:
    • Providing safety escort services for students, employees, and visitors
    • Maintaining a continuous perimeter deployment and activity protocol to ensure appropriate egress and ingress procedures are followed
    • Patrolling the campus on an assigned shift by vehicle or foot
    • Enforcing parking rules and regulations
    • Implementing identification, lockdown, and exiting procedures as appropriate
    • Responding to health and/or safety-related incidents with appropriate enforcement, communication, and facilitation protocols
  • Dispatch Services: Provide dispatch services as needed, including:
    • Synchronizing all video surveillance, audio messaging, and responses by the Public Safety division
    • Managing the dispatch log and ensuring accurate and timely communication
    • Greeting visitors and providing information and directions on campus
    • Monitoring all incoming vehicles and ensuring only properly identified individuals are allowed access to campus
  • Internal and External Contacts: Establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including:
    • Residence Life staff
    • Building and Grounds personnel
    • Municipal agencies, such as the Milton Police Department and Milton Fire Department
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field
  • Experience: At least one year of security or public safety experience
  • Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills, good computer skills, and valid driver's license
  • Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of hire date
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related discipline
  • Experience: Security or public safety experience of at least one year
  • Knowledge: Intimate knowledge of Curry College campus and Public Safety procedures
