About the Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at YAI. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, love, work, and learn in their communities.

As a member of our team, you will work closely with individuals of all ages who require support with daily living skills, personal care, and socialization. You will be responsible for providing individualized support, promoting independence, and facilitating community integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care services, including counseling, training in daily living skills, and assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, and recreational needs.

  • Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the individuals we support.

  • Support with intimate care functions and build positive relationships with individuals and their families.

  • Participate in the development of treatment plans and crisis intervention and management.

  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies and assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities.

  • Facilitate community integration, recreational activities, and socialization.

  • Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing.

  • Participate in training and presenting to the team and take on additional tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory.

  • Valid NY State Driver's License may be required depending on the position.

  • Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.

Compensation:
