Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist 2 to join our team at the University of Miami. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing microbiological, molecular biological, and immunological tests on body specimens to provide data for treatment and diagnosis of disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify identification of specimens with physicians' orders and prepare specimens for testing.
  • Analyze results of testing and interpret abnormal or unusual results.
  • Research and prepare patient data and refer data and testing results to pathologists for evaluation and sign-out.
  • Calibrate equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventory of relevant forms and materials.
  • Administer quality-control tests and maintain data recording.
  • Assist with orienting and training employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty or field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in research protocol lab manual training for new studies.
  • Update freezer logs for batch shipping.
  • Assist in the development of lab policy and procedure.
  • Provide answers to sponsor queries and documentation to CRC staff and management.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
