The Accounting Department within the Orfalea College of Business at California State University is establishing a pool of qualified adjunct faculty for potential teaching roles in taxation across various academic quarters.
The Orfalea College of Business provides a master's program in accountancy with a specialization in taxation and undergraduate courses in this field.The department is looking for qualified candidates capable of instructing taxation at both graduate and undergraduate levels in areas such as:
multi-state taxation, international taxation, individual taxation, corporate taxation, partnership taxation, estate and gift taxation, and reorganizations.
Assignments depend on class availability, scheduling, budget constraints, and student enrollments.
Initial rank and compensation for adjunct faculty are determined by professional experience and educational qualifications, as assessed by the hiring department.
Most new adjunct faculty are appointed at the Lecturer A or B rank.As of July 2023, the salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A:
$5,007-$6,359
Lecturer B:
$5,925-$12,594
Lecturer C:
$6,500-$13,831
Lecturer D:
$8,184-$14,487

A master's degree in taxation, accounting, or a related field, along with professional certification, is required. A strong teaching record and current engagement in the professional field are essential. Relevant professional and/or teaching experience is mandatory.
Any exceptions to this qualification must be approved by the area's tenured and probationary faculty.
