About the Role

The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychologist to join our team. As a key member of our Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Clinical Team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our nation's Veterans and Active-Duty Service members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients.
  • Offer the full range of comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including time-limited individual, long-term individual, family, group psychotherapy, and crisis management.
  • Collaborate with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues and provide consultation to professional staff within CAVHS and to community providers concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  • Develop, implement, and document the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of notes.
  • Function independently as a member of the CAVHS Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges, and assume complete professional responsibility for her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • English Language Proficiency: Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G18.
  • Education: Applicants must possess one (1) of the following:
    • A doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed.
    • A doctoral degree in any area of psychology and, in addition, successfully complete a re-specialization program meeting both of the following conditions:
      • The re-specialization program must be completed in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program.
      • The specialty in which the application is retrained must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
