Advanced Care Provider for Pediatric Emergencies

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Care Provider to join our Emergency Department team.


Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide expert patient care, manage complex cases, and participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages and acuity levels with medical and/or surgical complaints
  • Collaborate with board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, PEM fellows, emergency medicine and pediatrics residents, medical students, RNs, clinical assistants, and others in the Emergency Department
  • Perform detailed histories and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and develop and execute a wide range of care plans using sound clinical reasoning and critical thinking
  • Engage in consultations with subspecialty services to aid in patient care
  • Perform emergency medicine procedures (including laceration repairs, incision and drainage, lumbar punctures, joint relocations, splinting, removal of nasal/ear foreign bodies, local nerve anesthesia and blocks)
  • Develop discharge care plans with patients and families, including prescribing medications and confirming primary care or specialty care follow-up
  • Communicate with patients and families in a respectful manner, leading to compassionate and empathetic care
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health issues

Requirements:

  • A Master of Science in Nursing and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • ~1-2 years of NP or PA Emergency Department or Urgent Care experience required
