Position Summary: The Supply Chain Commodity Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the supply chain processes by sourcing and evaluating commodities related to our product offerings. This position involves managing materials from the initial concept through production and eventual phase-out.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising the development team on component selection and vendor partnerships.
  • Negotiating pricing and availability of materials during the initial design phase.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing partners throughout the production phase to ensure material availability, addressing requests, and managing delivery timelines while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Identifying second sourcing opportunities and implementing cost reduction strategies during the product lifecycle.
  • Establishing and nurturing strong relationships with commodity suppliers and distributors.
  • Securing favorable pricing and terms for essential commodities and coordinating with manufacturing partners.
  • Maintaining an accurate and detailed Costed Bill of Materials for all product SKUs, while evaluating and recommending new vendors.
  • Analyzing market trends and assessing risks associated with partner and component selection.
  • Resolving vendor disputes and managing warranty claims effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in supply chain or commodity management.
  • Understanding of financial markets and factors affecting product pricing.
  • Experience with consumer commodities, including electronics and mechanical components.
  • Strong risk management capabilities, with the ability to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and effective communication with vendors and suppliers.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
  • A passion for outdoor sporting activities is considered a plus.
