Mount Desert Island Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide chair-side assistance to dentists during procedures, including preparing patients, transferring instruments, and anticipating provider needs.
  • Prepare each operatory and patient for treatment, including taking and preparing radiographs using conventional and digital technology.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing support and compassion as needed, and reviewing health history and obtaining vital signs.
  • Maintain and properly perform sterilization of instruments and equipment, and help manage the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards.
  • Prepare dental materials, including cements, amalgams, composites, impression materials, and other supplies.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for ongoing dental treatment.

**Requirements**

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification and/or preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle numerous tasks at the same time.
  • Flexible and excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient with computers and capable of working as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
