Position OverviewAECOM is in search of a Lead Geotechnical Engineering Specialist to join our team.
With a rich legacy of over 85 years and countless successful projects, our proficiency in dam and reservoir engineering is unparalleled. We manage every phase of the process, from feasibility assessments to design, construction, and maintenance, ensuring the durability and safety of essential water infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations, oversee construction activities, gather geotechnical samples, document daily operations, analyze geotechnical data, perform analyses, and prepare reports.
- Determine material characteristics for soil and rock, and assess the stability of slopes and foundations.
- Utilize judgment to develop work details, make preliminary selections, and adapt engineering alternatives. Draft technical proposals, reports, and regulatory documents.
- Integrate geotechnical evaluation results into civil design through collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
- Enhance engineering design skills through field experience, including construction support, site inspections, and geotechnical assessments. Adapt designs to field conditions as necessary.
- Identify potential opportunities for additional work within existing projects or for current clients.
- Collaborate on regional projects with other offices and disciplines.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Execute project tasks utilizing critical thinking and engineering methodologies.
- Engage in the construction of in-house designs, fostering existing client relationships and paving the way for future projects.
- Employ software tools such as GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Settle3, and MathCAD for geotechnical analysis.
- Prepare Project Work Plans and Health and Safety Plans.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is preferred.
- 4 to 7 years of related experience in geotechnical engineering projects.
- Possession of an Arizona PE license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with geotechnical software.
- Solid understanding of fieldwork.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Relocation assistance is available for this position.
- Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Project site travel may be required as needed.
