Overview of SBIR Grants:

This role involves direct engagement with grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a federal initiative designed to assist small businesses in conducting research and development. The program's objectives include:

  • Encouraging technological innovation
  • Addressing federal research and development needs
  • Enhancing private sector commercialization of innovations resulting from federal R&D funding
  • Promoting participation in innovation and entrepreneurship among socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and women-owned small businesses.

Role Responsibilities:

The Research Project Coordinator will oversee daily research operations related to the development, execution, and management of SBIR research initiatives, ensuring that study objectives are met successfully. This position requires close collaboration with researchers and various stakeholders.

  • Support Principal Investigators (PIs) with diverse tasks as necessary.
  • Engage with Northwest Prevention Science and University of Oregon personnel and researchers involved in SBIR projects, ensuring effective communication.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with community organizations and educational staff.
  • Collaborate on the creation of research documents and materials, including consent forms, recruitment documents, intervention resources, and data collection tools.
  • Prepare and review necessary documentation, including training resources and evaluations.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with community stakeholders, educational providers, and parents.
  • Oversee and manage data collection and analysis, including usability testing and satisfaction assessments.
  • Assist in tracking and managing subject fee payments and other expenses related to SBIR projects.
  • Help organize project timelines and monitor reporting deadlines, such as Recruitment Milestone Reporting for NIH.
  • Support the management of IRB requirements, processes, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a research assistant, coordinator, or similar capacity.
  • Familiarity with schools, community mental health organizations, and/or primary healthcare agencies.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities, with the ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications and advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), along with data management and scheduling tools.
  • Commitment to a minimum of one year of employment.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree in psychology or a related field with clinical training is preferred.
