Job Description

We are seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to develop and implement innovative PE programs tailored for students with moderate to severe trauma and behavioral needs. The ideal candidate will facilitate physical fitness, safety habits, and motor skills development as specified in individual IEPs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement adapted PE programs that meet individual students' needs, promoting physical fitness, safety habits, and motor skills development.
  • Use engaging instructional practices, diverse assessments, and questioning techniques to motivate and support all students.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle behaviors and social skills, ensuring modifications are safe and appropriate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish a productive learning environment culture that respects all students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team.
Requirements
  • Physical education experience with a minimum of 3-6 years' experience in academia in K-12, charter, or other non-traditional schools.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing adaptive physical education that ensures excellence in physical education, health, and therapeutic lessons for students.
  • Capacity for intellectual, physical, and social development of at-risk youth, through a comprehensive program that promotes academic excellence and prepares students for success in school and in life.
  • RIDE Certified elementary or secondary Physical Education - Health teacher or RIDE Certified in Adaptive Physical Education elementary or secondary.
  • Physical Education Certification completed or in process.
  • Valid driver's license and registered/inspected vehicle.
