Our Operating Room is a dynamic 9-suite facility that conducts a diverse range of surgical procedures across various specialties, including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Robotics, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Podiatry, and Plastics.

The Surgical Technologist II plays a crucial role as part of the surgical team, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of invasive surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions.

This role involves collaborating with the surgical team to maintain a secure operating room environment, ensuring that instruments are functioning correctly, and that procedures are performed under optimal conditions to enhance patient safety.

Proficient in serving as either the first or second scrub person, or as an assistant circulator during procedures within a designated specialty area.

Key Responsibilities:
Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures within their assigned specialty area. Understands the procedures being performed and anticipates the surgeon's needs.

Engages in collaborative reviews of relevant patient information to ensure accuracy regarding procedures and associated factors influencing preparedness (e.g., H&P, Consents, Radiographic reports).

Assists with circulating duties, obtaining additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed during surgical procedures. Monitors conditions in the operating room and continuously assesses the needs of both the patient and the surgical team.

In the second assisting role, performs technical tasks other than cutting, clamping, and suturing of tissue.

This role is distinct from that of the first assistant and may, in some instances, be executed concurrently with the scrub role.

Strives to enhance personal technical and clinical competence in all job-related responsibilities.

Assists in orienting new departmental personnel and participates in the clinical training of students as assigned in the operating room.

Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure quality patient care during surgical procedures and remains vigilant regarding the maintenance of sterile fields.

Exhibits awareness of patient and personal safety. Demonstrates knowledge of Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions. Observes and promptly reports any unusual occurrences.

Organizes, cleans, and maintains unit work areas, supplies, and equipment. Assists with inventory control by reporting needs.

Facilitates room turnover by cleaning furniture and equipment according to established End of Case Cleaning guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.

Graduation from a nationally accredited surgical technology program.

Internal applicants in good standing with 3 or more years of recent operating room experience, who are eligible for certification, will be considered in lieu of the educational requirement for completion of a surgical technology program.

Certification through a national certifying body is required. Must maintain active certification throughout employment.

Proficient in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking fluent English.

Demonstrates multi-cultural sensitivity.

Customer/patient-focused approach.

Possesses critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in decision-making.

Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Basic computer skills are necessary.

Familiarity with standard equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

Work may occasionally require travel to other facilities. May utilize a company vehicle, rental, or personal vehicle.

Flexibility in accepting assignments and the ability to work well as both a team member and independently.

Ability to perform under time constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate Degree or higher is encouraged.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
