About the Role

T. Marzetti Company, a leading manufacturer and marketer of specialty food products, is seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Operations Manager to oversee the production and sanitation activities on a designated shift. This key role will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant, achieving quality and quantity goals, and maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shift Coordination: Plan and communicate with employees to ensure all sanitation objectives are accomplished.
  • Sanitation Planning and Budgeting: Develop and control plans and budgets for the sanitation area.
  • Master Sanitation Schedule: Develop and implement a master sanitation schedule/program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards.
  • Collaboration with Production: Partner with production to ensure upkeep of the master sanitation schedule.
  • CIP Equipment Monitoring: Monitor CIP equipment to ensure proper operation by shift personnel.
  • Cleaning Chemical Management: Oversee the storage and use of cleaning chemicals within the warehouse to prevent unauthorized access or use.
  • Labor and Maintenance Cost Control: Control and minimize overtime labor and maintenance costs.
  • Chemical Usage Monitoring: Monitor the usage of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and agents to ensure compliance to safety requirements.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Maintain close working relationship with QA and respond to deviations from standards immediately.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance to all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching, and leadership to subordinates.
  • Employee Relations: Maintain good employee, corporate, and community relations.
  • Shift Start-up/Shut-down Coordination: Coordinate with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble-free shift start-up/shut-down.
  • Cleanliness and Safety Standards: Maintain company standards for cleanliness, housekeeping, and safety in the plant area.
  • Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs; assure conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.
  • Food Safety Plan: Serve as a Qualified Individual as part of the plant's Food Safety Plan, including monitoring and verification activities related to process control and preventive control measures.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2-3 years production/group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry with sanitation and production experience.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
