Job Summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking a qualified Part-Time Culinary Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the goals and objectives of our after-hours and weekend culinary program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Implementation: Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies and materials to promote active learning and foster a climate conducive to learning.
  • Lesson Planning: Create and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of each student, incorporating food preparation, cooking techniques, equipment operation and maintenance, sanitation, and safety.
  • Student Support: Maintain student behavior standards through individualized behavioral supports and group behavior modification strategies, as needed.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with administration, students, and parents/guardians, as scheduled or necessary.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional growth opportunities and demonstrate continuous improvement, as reflected in a yearly or periodic professional evaluation.
Qualifications
  • Certification: New Jersey DOE substitute certification/eligibility required; certified culinary teacher preferred.
  • Education and Experience: Formal culinary school education or a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the food service area; working with students with special needs or school experience is a plus.
  • Teaching Skills: Demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods and appropriate developmental instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certifications: Certified Instructor for the ServSafe Food Safety Manager training preferred.
  • Background Check: Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
