About This Role

The Senior Network Service Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment used in central offices or headends. This includes service or repair of telephone, internet, and other communications equipment. Additionally, the technician will install communications equipment or communications wiring in buildings and troubleshoot network outages/issues, working with vendors to repair/replace equipment as needed.

The Enterprise Technologies team at Kansas State University leads strategies to ensure that technologies are used efficiently and cost-effectively while leveraging stakeholders' feedback to guide improvements and adjustments. The team ensures that technology decisions align with the University goals; system infrastructure is functional and efficient, build data protection processes, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). The team manages day-to-day technology and client service operations to improve infrastructure costs, performance, and user satisfaction.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and one year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience working in the telecommunications industry and with switching equipment.
  • Experience with telecommunications wiring, equipment programming, and familiarity with telecommunications standards.
  • Experience with AT&T, data, and voice equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Familiarity with electronic data switches and large central office telephone capabilities.

Compensation

The anticipated hiring pay range is $22.83-$29.11 per hour.
