We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dietetic Technician to join our team at Zencon Group. As a Dietetic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing nutrition care services to patients, working closely with registered dietitian nutritionists and other healthcare providers to address prevention and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct nutrition assessments of patients within the scope of practice of a Dietetic Technician-Registered, based on screening and documentation guidelines.
- Implement and monitor nutritional interventions assigned by the RDN to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
- Estimate nutritional intakes of patients, calculate and document calorie counts as requested, and assist RDs with data collection as needed.
- Identify patients in need of in-depth assessment by the RD and transfer care appropriately.
- Provide education to patients and families on restricted/special diets or special formulas, and refer for outpatient follow-up as necessary.
- Stay knowledgeable about nutritional content, sources, and use of commercial supplements, tube feeding, infant formula, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals).
- Input data from outpatient diet records on computer for analysis to be completed by the outpatient dietitian, and maintain updates and enter new items in Food Processor.
- Prepare, portion, and deliver patient enteral feeding orders accurately and timely, and practice with a questioning attitude and escalate concerns, issues, or discrepancies regarding enteral feeding orders, faulty equipment, and unsafe working conditions.
- Participate in maintenance of human milk inventory, assist with human milk shipment and safe disposal as needed, and adhere to standards with regard to transport and shipment of human milk.
- Adhere to applicable regulations, safety, and infection prevention & control standards that govern enteral feeding production operations.
- Associate's Degree in Nutrition or a related program by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Prior work experience in a hospital setting or WIC program.
- Dietetic Technician-Registered (DTR) certification within 9 months.
- Basic knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy in pediatric patients.
- Basic knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Competence in nutritional content, sources, and use of commercial supplements, tube feedings, human milk, infant formulas, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals).
- Ability to perform increasingly complex mathematical calculations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and metric measures.
The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, adhering to standards of food safety and sanitation, best practices for formula and human milk preparation, regulatory standards, departmental, and hospital policies and procedures.
