This is a skilled painter position that involves performing various tasks related to painting and finishing surfaces. The successful candidate will work under direct supervision and will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, applying paint and other coatings, and performing other related duties.
Key Responsibilities- Surface Preparation: Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by removing furniture, wall hangings, and other obstructions, and cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting or covering.
- Painting and Coating: Apply paint, shellac, varnish, enamel, stain, sealer, or other protective coatings to prepared surfaces using a brush, spray, roller, cloth, or other means necessary to ensure adequate coverage.
- Finishing and Refinishing: Finish and refinish wood surfaces with stain, urethane, or lacquers, and apply wall and/or ceiling finishes and/or wall coverings to surfaces.
- Scaffolding and Equipment: Erect and break down scaffolding, set up ladders, and operate motorized lifts as necessary.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting in the training and supervision of new employees.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Successful completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program or four (4) years (48 months) of full-time journey-level painter experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: As required by the position to be filled, current license/certification consistent with vehicles, machinery, and equipment that is routinely used in the general occupational area.
