Job Title: Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team at New Story School. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Record and track student progress, providing regular updates to parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and adapt lesson plans, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging curriculum.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching methods and behavioral strategies to support student growth and development.
  • Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and making data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Directly manage and supervise classroom assistants and aides, providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth and efficient learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students.
  • Ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students that could be injurious to themselves or others.
  • Ability to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
