Position OverviewThe R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is seeking a dedicated Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the management of complex trauma cases. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless continuum of care for patients from their initial admission through to discharge and follow-up.
Key Responsibilities:- Engage in a collaborative environment with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Work alongside esteemed trauma specialists in a pioneering facility dedicated to shock treatment.
- Participate in research initiatives and academic projects to advance trauma care.
- Primarily manage inpatient care with opportunities for outpatient clinic involvement.
- Oversee patient care in both Intermediate Care and acute settings.
- Provide coverage throughout the week, with a focus on daytime shifts, eliminating night shifts.
Clinical Competencies:
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of trauma physiology and the management of associated medical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations tailored to clinical presentations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests accurately.
- Formulate, implement, and assess the effectiveness of care plans.
- Manage a variety of medical and surgical conditions while recognizing potential risks and complications.
- Collaborate effectively with trauma surgeons and other team leaders based on patient needs.
- Facilitate coordinated care and maintain clear communication among all team members.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Provide compassionate counseling to patients and families regarding injuries and treatment processes.
- Ensure precise documentation within the electronic medical record system.
