Position Overview

The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is seeking a dedicated Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the management of complex trauma cases. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless continuum of care for patients from their initial admission through to discharge and follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in a collaborative environment with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Work alongside esteemed trauma specialists in a pioneering facility dedicated to shock treatment.
  • Participate in research initiatives and academic projects to advance trauma care.
  • Primarily manage inpatient care with opportunities for outpatient clinic involvement.
  • Oversee patient care in both Intermediate Care and acute settings.
  • Provide coverage throughout the week, with a focus on daytime shifts, eliminating night shifts.
Qualifications:

Clinical Competencies:

  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of trauma physiology and the management of associated medical conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations tailored to clinical presentations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests accurately.
  • Formulate, implement, and assess the effectiveness of care plans.
  • Manage a variety of medical and surgical conditions while recognizing potential risks and complications.
  • Collaborate effectively with trauma surgeons and other team leaders based on patient needs.
  • Facilitate coordinated care and maintain clear communication among all team members.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Provide compassionate counseling to patients and families regarding injuries and treatment processes.
  • Ensure precise documentation within the electronic medical record system.
