Job Title: Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic trauma team at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of trauma patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering/interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with trauma surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide advanced clinical care, including wound management, suturing, and other procedures as necessary.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response.
  • Participate in trauma resuscitation and provide support in emergency situations.
  • Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
  • Collaborate with the trauma team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and trauma research projects.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland.
  • National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in trauma or critical care.
  • Advanced clinical skills in trauma care, including procedural skills and emergency management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Trauma Nursing (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate will be exposed to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and high-stress situations.
