About the Role

Hartford Healthcare (HHC) is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Surgical Critical Care team at Backus Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the critical care and stepdown units.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, including referrals to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of your practice, as designated by protocols, and identify problems outside of your scope of practice and refer appropriately to a physician.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training
  • New graduates welcome to apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of post-graduate experience as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Critical care and/or surgical and trauma experience
