Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tankerman to join our team at Centerline Logistics Corporation. As a Tankerman, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor product levels in tanks and operate diesel engines, cargo pumps, and tank/pipeline valves.
  • Communicate with foreign crews and oil facility personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adjust and secure barge lines, complete loading and discharge gauge reports, and inspect vessels for regulatory compliance.
  • Operate air monitoring equipment, hearing protection, VHF radio, hand tools, tow lines, high-level alarms, and thermometers.
  • Perform general barge maintenance and cleanliness, hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping, and change engine oil and filters.
  • Splice barge lines and boom running gear, and possess knowledge of company safety practices.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years of previous experience as a Tankerman PIC on oil barges required.
  • Possess a valid Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document with PIC and AB endorsements.
  • Knowledge of Coast Guard and state requirements for transfer operations, experience with ballast water treatment, and valid first aid/CPR certificate.
  • Valid TWIC, valid state driver license, and complete HAZWOPER training within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have physical ability to maneuver cargo hoses, handle barge lines, and board vessels by use of an Accommodation ladder, Jacob's ladder, or tugboat.
  • Ability to complete accurate paperwork, possess good communication skills, and think and respond quickly to emergency situations.
Working Conditions

Exposure to all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc. Must not be afraid of heights and be willing to work long hours, including weekends, holidays, and at night.
