Job Overview

Position Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a crucial role in formulating and managing safety and health initiatives. This position is essential for responding to emergency situations, including fires, medical crises, significant incidents, and environmental hazards. The EHS Specialist conducts thorough inspections of safety, health, fire, and emergency equipment to identify and rectify safety issues. Additionally, this role involves the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program aimed at enhancing safety awareness across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response
  • Address serious incidents or injuries
  • Accompany injured personnel to healthcare facilities
  • Manage fire-related emergencies
  • Address deficiencies in fire systems
  • Respond to hazardous spills or chemical releases
  • Handle security incidents or breaches
  • Conduct Incident Investigations
  • Oversee Compliance Programs
    • Blood-borne Pathogens Training
    • Forklift Operation Certification
    • Hazard Communication Training
    • Lockout/Tagout Procedures
    • Personal Protective Equipment Guidelines
  • Maintain Fire Safety Systems
  • Conduct weekly inspections
  • Manage fire pump and alarm systems
  • Oversee Safety Tag Stations
  • Ensure First Aid kits are stocked
  • Manage waste storage and disposal
  • Conduct monthly inspections
  • Inspect Fire Extinguishers
  • Perform Area Safety Inspections
  • Conduct periodic audits
  • Review Process Modifications as assigned
  • Audit Hoist and Sling inspections
  • Audit Ladder inspections
  • Manage Safety Supplies
  • Maintain inventory of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ensure availability of Safety Equipment/Devices
  • Oversee First Aid Supplies
  • Conduct Contractor Safety Orientation
  • Review applicable HSE programs and policies
  • Review plant permits and tags
  • Facilitate Safety Training
  • Assist with Monthly Safety Training
  • Conduct New Hire Safety Training
  • Facilitate Waste Disposal Procedures
  • Support Emergency Response Team initiatives
  • Assist the Yupo Safety Committee
